About Us

A nest open to the world

The Open Nest is a home for artists, dreamers, and storytellers.
Based in the mountain village of Vavla in Cyprus, we create in a quiet place where nature sparks new ideas and where tradition blends with contemporary expression.

Founded by two artists who share the same vision, The Open Nest is a growing creative ecosystem. In Vavla, we nurture a community rooted in dialogue, openness, and curiosity. We host workshops, retreats, gatherings, and residencies that honour the land, the stories and the people who give this place life.

We bring artists together and create the conditions for meaningful exchange - moments where ideas grow, shift, and evolve. Our mission is simple: to create spaces where artistic expression feels alive, where local and international voices meet and where creativity becomes a shared experience.

Through our projects and partnerships, we host and support artists as they develop new work, explore new directions, and strengthen their voice. At its heart, The Open Nest is an invitation to slow down, to listen, to create, to share and to join a creative community.

Lefteris Moumtzis
Co-founder & Artistic Director

Lefteris Moumtzis is a Cypriot musician, composer, producer, and artistic director whose work spans almost three decades across Cyprus, Greece and beyond. Moving fluidly between projects and identities, he has developed a distinctive artistic voice grounded in openness, experimentation, and collaboration. He studied at Berklee College of Music and Birmingham Conservatoire and later worked in London as a musician, teacher, and organiser of music events.

Lefteris has released numerous albums, composed for theatre film and dance, and collaborated widely with artists from diverse disciplines. As co-founder of The Open Nest Company, he guides the organisation’s artistic vision, curates programs, and leads workshops, residencies, and musical experiences.
