As a co-founding member of the AMARI network of rural Mediterranean music residencies, The Open Nest shares a profound creative and philosophical partnership with Meraki Testa Dell’Acqua in southeastern Sicily.
Based in the hamlet of Testa Dell’Acqua near Noto, Meraki is a non-profit cultural association and residency site run by co-founder Mark Dieler. It provides a vital hub for musicians, producers, and cultural workers, with spaces for rehearsal, exhibition, and events that are deeply woven into the local social and musical fabric of Sicily.
This partnership is a direct expression of our core belief in the creative power of nature, community and art. Through AMARI, we collaborate on a shared mission to support artistic work within the daily rhythms of rural villages, fostering sustainable cultural ecosystems, rural regeneration and meaningful collaboration across the Mediterranean.
